Foodie Friday - Transfer Dinner

Here is the spread that awaits our hungry Missionaries. They have usually been up since 4am, flown for 3 and a half hours, had their orientation and an interview with the President, then they come over to the Mission Home for dinner, a testimony meeting and then they are off to bed early for the last time for 2 years.

We have taco salad because I can have that ready at what ever time they arrive. They start in the back with the chips and move around across the front. Here we have tostitos chips, taco meat (in the crock pot), shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, fresh salsa, guacamole, sour cream and hot sauce. We've used this to feed as many as 26. It helps that I have a 7 quart crock pot for those really large dinners.

Have a Lovely Day~

  2. Sounds like good home food to me! You are a great mission mom to fix something almost everyone will eat.
Our sons who have gone foreign have had to endure all sorts of first meals:-)!!!
    * #1 son in Japan had a raw egg broken over a bowl of rice.
    * #2 In Brazil...probably Beans and Rice which he loves. I really am not sure though...
    * #3 a meal of pickled artichokes after arriving in Italy. He can't ~ or won't eat artichokes!
I hope your missionaries know how lucky they are to have you serve them normal yummy food.
We feed that meal quite often to our Young Single Adults and they always love it!

    Have a happy Day!

  5. I do that too when we have all the area missionaries here. My husband is the Ward Mission Leader, and often we end up with 6 to 10 missionaries, depending on the meeting topic. I LOVE Taco night. The missionaries tell me it one of their favorite meals...so that in and of itself is perfect motivation to prepare our Chili/Taco night.

Happy Friday. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  10. It has got to be wonderful for the new arrivals to find a welcoming spread like the one that you have prepared. I am sure their parents are incredibly grateful for you, and your husbands efforts!
